The following are fun, often-free or low-cost, family arts events in and around Southern California ~ the South Bay, Orange County, and Los Angeles. We hope to see you there!

Winter Impressions - Family Art and Nature Workshop!
Saturday February 4, 2012, at 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy and Art to Grow On, Inc. for a family coastal hike, trail activities and children’s art workshop at Terranea Resort. We will begin with a short hike down Discovery Trail to learn about birds and observe the winter landscape to gather inspiration for painting. The hike will include fun activities and a few guest appearances from our feathered friends along the way. Next, the young artists will paint their own masterpieces in an outdoor studio! Meet at the pelican statue next to the Fishing Access parking lot between the Lighthouse and Terranea Resort. $25 per family. Ages 3+ welcome. Peter and the Wolf!
Sunday February 19, 2012, at 2:00 PM. Come early and enjoy an art project provided by Art To Grow On Children’s Art Center, Inc.! "Peter and the Wolf" is an adaptation of the traditional Russian folktale set to music by Sergei Prokofiev. While providing a charming introduction to the world of music and musical instruments, this enchanting tale is all about the adventure of growing up. Danger becomes reality and creative innovation becomes essential as young Peter meets the challenge of survival in the outside world. Bubblemania!
Sunday May 6, 2012, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Come early and enjoy an art project provided by Art To Grow On Children’s Art Center, Inc.! Featuring Casey Carle, a bubble artist extraordinaire who has “burst” onto stages all over the world with a flair for showmanship and infectious energy for bubbling – from the intricate to the massive. See the beauty, wonder and fun of bubbles as Casey combines spontaneous comedy, jazz music and brilliant bubbling. Among his many featured skills are fantastic fog-filled bubble sculptures, blobs of helium-filled foam, bubble ping-pong, trapping an audience member (or two?) inside a gigantic soap bubble and thousands of bubbles filling the stage. Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre! Saturday January 8, 2011, at 2:00 PM & 6:00 PM. Art To Grow On Inc. is participating with the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation on this family theater performance! We will provide free art projects after the show! For more info and tickets about this particular show: www.comedypet.com. The World Famous Popovich Comedy Pet Theater is a family-oriented blend of the unique comedy and juggling skills of Russian-born Gregory Popovich, and the extraordinary talents of his performing pets. Each of the show's 15 cats and 10 dogs were once strays, rescued from animal shelters and given a second chance at a life in the spotlight, doing what they love to do.

Terranea Resort – Winter Impressions Nature Walk and Children's Art Workshop! Saturday January 29, 2011, at 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. One of our favorite places! Join us for a family coastal hike and children's art workshop beginning with a short hike on Discovery Trail using fun activities to train our "scientific eye" and observe shadows and movement in nature. Then use these new skills to create masterpieces inspired by impressions of the winter coastal landscape. Cost: $25 per family. Children’s Art Workshop - Art To Grow On Children’s Art Center, Inc.: Van Gogh in the Garden! Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Two workshops: 9:30 - 10:30 AM OR 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. All ages are welcome! Join us at the Garden, along with Art To Grow On Children’s Art Center, as we kick off spring! This workshop will expose all budding artists to the spring flowers in bloom. Take a walk, learn about flowers, feed the ducks, and then end up in our outdoor studio. All supplies provided. Garden entrance is free for Garden Free Day. Golden Dragon Acrobats
Sunday March 27, 2011, at 2:00 PM & 6:00 PM. Art To Grow On Inc. is participating with the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation on this family theater performance! Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy and Art to Grow On, Inc. for a family coastal hike and children's art workshop. We will begin with a short hike down Discovery Trail and train our "scientific eye" with fun activities along the way in order to better observe the subtle patterns of color and texture in nature. Using these skills, we will gather our impressions of the spring coastal landscape and the young artists will paint their own masterpieces. Art To Grow On Children's Art Center, Inc. will be here to get us started at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 14^th to create a wall of art. And it’s not just for kids, everyone’s invited! Choose a tile and have some fun -  leave your handprint, a drawing of the beach...we’re going to display your tile in the store for all to see... Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy and Art to Grow On, Inc. for a family coastal hike and children’s art workshop at Terranea Resort. We will begin with a short hike down Discovery Trail (begins adjacent to public parking lot west of Terranea) to view the coastline through the eyes of an explorer experiencing the scenery for the first time! The hike will include fun activities along the way. Together we will observe features in the coastal landscape. Next, the young artists will paint their own masterpieces in an outdoor studio! Winter Camp with MyGym and Art To Grow On! December 19-23, & December 26-30, 1:00 - 4:00 PM. A half-day of gymnastics, arts and crafts, story time, music, sports and much more. My Gym Camp is designed to enhance physical growth and a sense of individual success. Our number one goal is your child's enjoyment! Our camp program is designed for kids ages 3 - 10 years.
